The new rooms…

As promised (and then forgotten), here are pictures of the kids’ new rooms!

I apologize ahead of time for the quality of the pictures…

Olivia’s:

Daniel’s:

And Josh’s:

The pictures don’t do the rooms justice and I am pretty proud of how they turned out.  As I’m sure you all know I am not a very organized person and I don’t consider myself to be especially creative either…  But what I love about all three rooms is that they look great but are also very organized.  Which means it is much easier to keep them clean.

The other thing is that the majority of the furniture and decorations are things that we either already had or things that were hand me downs (with a few exceptions).  The book cases in Daniel and Olivia’s rooms are old ones we had that we spray painted.  The desks in Josh and Olivia’s rooms are desks my Uncle made for my brother and me when we were kids.  The doll house and the train table were hand me downs and Leif made the lego table (with the super cool lego village on it as seen above) that is in Josh’s room.  The rocking chair in Daniel’s room belonged to Don’s mom.  We bought the space painting in Daniels room and the Flower painting in Olivia’s room (both from target and both for under $50!).  So we didn’t have to put a lot of money into the project and stayed environmentally friendly too!

Now if I can get the rest of the house as organized as the kids’ rooms I’ll be in good shape :) .

A little spring fun in Myrtle Creek

For spring break we spent a few days in Myrtle Creek and in spite of a weather forecast of rain all week the weather was absolutely beautiful.  And the kids soaked it up.  They couldn’t get enough of the sunshine and walks and playing in the creek.  We lived on this property for a few years when I was a kid and even though the time we lived there is shorter than any other place we lived, part of me will always consider this space home.  More so than anywhere else I have ever lived.  I think this is because as a child I spent my days exploring, discovering and growing with this space.

I love knowing that my kids will have that same kind of relationship with my childhood home.  I love to watch them splash in the creek.  I love to watch Josh take off up the hill with Kala in tow, to shoot the BB gun and find new, unexplored, magical places.  I love the excitement on Olivia and Daniel’s faces whenever they find out they are going to Myrtle Creek.

Because it doesn’t get any better than this right?
